Deceased Name: JEFFREY S. BLUSTIN

Duluth

JEFFREY S. BLUSTIN, 56, of Duluth, passed away Sunday, May 20, after a 33 month fight with cancer. He died at St. Luke's Hospital with his loving famly at his side.

He was born Feb. 2, 1951 in Duluth to Dr. Harold D. Blustin and Bernice (London) Blustin.

He attended schools in Duluth and was a 1969 graduate of East High School. He then attended UMD where he joined Gamma Theta Phi fraternity. Here he met his closest lifelong friends, his brothers from Gamma. He then attended Optometry School in 1974 in Memphis, Tenn., graduating in 1978 with his Dr. of Optometry degree.

He joined his father in practice, and they happily partnered until Harold retired in 1984. Jeff went on to practice until his illness forced his retirement in 2005.

He loved to play cards, shoot pool, golf and ride his orange Harley Davidson. A fond memory is watching him ride down the street on his hog with his golf clubs strapped on the back. With all his loves, his wife and daughters always came first. He had three holes-in-one, one for each daughter.

Jeff was a member of Ridgeview Country Club, the American Optometric Assoc., the Minnesota Optometric Assoc., Temple Israel, the Bulldog Club, and the H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group).

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and his first wife, Jeanne

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, his best friend with whom he celebrated 21 years of marriage in April, 2007. They again exchanged vows on a family trip to Hawaii in January of 2006. Daughters, Kelly (Brian) DeDominces, of Ham Lake, Carrie and Jodi of Duluth; one grandson, Dane of Ham Lake; and grandson number two, due this month; cousin and close friend, David Blustin of Duluth.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd St. Burial at Temple Emanuel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. (218) 727-3555.
